Choosing Materials

December 11, 2018

Supplying Art Affordably

Process-based art requires a good collection of materials and we all know that art supplies can be expensive! Click through for a list of some common supplies you might add to your art center to expand what your kids can do without breaking the bank.

And don’t forget that Wonderschool Directors get an extra discount to Discount School Supply. Take advantage of it when restocking your paint, glue, and more.

Choosing Materials

If you're interested in incorporating more process-based art projects in your program, the first step is to arm yourself with some materials beyond paint and markers. Here are some common (and low cost!) materials to start out with. Many of these you might already have around the house:

  • q-tips

  • stickers

  • pipe cleaners

  • sponges

  • coffee filters

  • feathers

  • googly eyes

  • tissue paper

  • popsicle sticks

  • buttons

  • stamp pads

  • bubble wrap

  • old magazines

  • tin foil

  • yarn

  • plastic straws

  • paper plates

  • plastic spoons

  • hold punch

  • masking tape

  • paper towel rolls

  • clothes pins

  • rubber bands
